In order to reduce the stress on the cats and maximize the experience for our guests, we will recommend that you book an hourly reservation in advance. Walk-ins welcome, when space allows. We will allow about 12 people into the cat lounge at one time, as not to overwhelm the cats and maximize the “cat time” experience for our guests. (We can accommodate up to 15 guests for private parties.) We will ask that you arrive early to review the “cat café rules” and sign a waiver before entering the cat lounge. There will be a $10.00 /person, hourly cover-fee into the “Cat Lounge” to help sustain the business and cover operational costs such as rent and utilities. We will also have regular discounts for seniors, college students, Veterans and animal rescue / shelter volunteers. We will also have many specials throughout the year.
Then, of course, we will have a clowder of cats! Enjoy the company of purring and snuggly cats while they enjoy your company as well. The cats will help you relax, have fun and maybe even convince you to adopt one of them.
Where is Eat, Purr, Love Cat Cafe located?
We have found a “purrfect” location in the “fantabbylous” community of Clintonville, OH
located at 3041 Indianola Ave.
Columbus, OH. 43202
Where will the cats come from?
We are excited to be hosting adoptable cats from The Capital Area Humane Society. They have been helping animals and people in our community for 133 years. Last year, in 2015, they served nearly 8,000 animals, 70% of those were cats. In that time, CAHS placed over 2,000 cats and kittens with forever families along with providing assistance to even more cats and kittens in-need through programs such as RescueNet and FeralFix. We are excited for the opportunity to help them help even more felines in 2016. A portion of the profits will be donated to The Capital Area Humane Society.
How many cats will be at the café?
We will have a clowder of 10-12 adoptable free roaming cats for our cat loving guests to hang-out with at the cat cafe.
How will you keep the cats from becoming stressed?
The cats will be carefully chosen based on their personalities. They will need to be happy in an environment with a lot of interaction with people and other cats. They may also be sweet but shy cats that just need to get out of a cage-like setting in order to flourish. Once they arrive at the café, their happiness and safety will be our priority. The cafe will have a human-free zone, for breaks and litter boxes. Rules for keeping people and cats happy and safe will be explained and posted. Some cats will stay in an interim cage set up during their acclimation phase while getting used to a different space and other cats.
Why come to a cat cafe?
Millions of households have cats but it’s still fun to meet new ones. If you’re looking to adopt a shelter kitty, cat café’s offer a relaxing environment in which to interact with a small group of extraordinary cats. There are also many people who would love to have a cat but are not able to for multiple reasons such as; an allergic family member, a dog that won’t share its home with a cat or residing where pets are not allowed. Cat cafes bring cat lovers and lovable cats together.
Will children be allowed in the cafe?
Yes, but they must be accompanied by a parent or an adult. We ask that children 12 and under are monitored by their parent or guardian at all times when in the cat lounge. Running and yelling is not allowed, as it scares the cats. We want to give children the opportunity to appreciate and enjoy cats as much as we do.
How can I get involved?
How can you serve food with cats roaming around?
All of the food will be prepared off-site, due to Health Department restrictions. The bakery items will be prepackaged and prepared by Pattycake Vegan Bakery, which can be brought into the “cat lounge” once it has been purchased. You can also bring your own food and beverage items into the cat lounge.
Can I bring my own cat to the cafe?
No, we will provide some really cool cats for you to hang out with. The cats will be temperament tested and vet-checked as well as, spayed / neutered, current on vaccines, etc. prior to transferring to the cat cafe. Your cat will not share the same enthusiasm and excitement that you have in coming to a cat cafe!
Will there be kittens for us to play with at the cafe?
We plan to have adult cats at the cat cafe. We love kittens too, but luckily, they typically get adopted quickly. Not to worry, though, there will be a variety of wonderful adult cats with playful, cuddly and entertaining “purrsonalities” at the cafe.
What if I fall in love with one of the cats, can they be adopted?
YES! That is the main focus of the cafe. We will provide a safe, home-like setting for adoptable cats to roam freely with lots of cat designed furniture, shelves and anything that makes a cat happy. Patrons can interact with the cats and get to know their personalities in a comfortable atmosphere. We hope to make many love connections this way.
When a café cat gets adopted, another one moves in! Not only will the cats at the café find Forever Families, but it also opens up space for the shelter to rescue even more cats as well.
Pictured here are some of the cats currently residing with us at Eat, Purr, Love Cat Café. Please note that we adopt several cats and welcome new cats in their place each and every week. Our “kitty roster” is constantly changing and may not be immediately updated. If you are interested in receiving further information on any of the resident cat cafe cats or if you would like to confirm that a particular cat is still available for adoption, please contact us at: [email protected] or call (614) 852-3521
The cats residing here at Eat, Purr, Love Cat Cafe have come to us from The Capital Area Humane Society. All of our residents are adult cats. They have been spayed or neutered and have received preventative medical procedures such as vaccines, by The Capital Area Humane Society, prior to arriving to the cat cafe.
We facilitate adoptions right here at the cat cafe using the same adoption screening application process and forms used by CAHS. If you are coming to Eat, Purr, Love Cat Cafe to find a feline member to add to your family, we can sometimes send cats home the same day. If not, we will hold the cat for you with an approved adoption application. All cats must go home in a cat carrier. All adoption fees and donations associated with the adoption are made payable to The Capital Area Humane Society by cash or check.
The Capital Area Humane Society and many other local rescue organizations have adorable and adoptable cats and kittens that are currently waiting for Forever Families to make a love connection with them.
